A Case of Esophageal Stricture with Esophagobroncheal Fistula after Ingestion of Solid Lye

Abstract
|

|
Here is reported a successful primary closure of esophagobronchial fistula and reconstruction of the esophagus. The esophageal stricture was resulted by ingestion of a solid lye for suicide, developed to espohgobronchial fistula and associated with aspiration pneumonia.
At first, a gastrostomy was performed for sufficient supply of nutrition and also pneumonia was successfully controlled by adequate antibiotics adminiistration.
The next step, closure of the esophagobronchial fistula was done, utilizing the adjacent adhesive esophageal wall as flap with no uneventful complication or stenosis of the bronchus.
At last, the esophageal reconstruction was carried out with right colon transposition through substernal route.
Postoperative course was satisfactory.
